I did #inktober!... mostly.

I did 20 days of the art challenge #inktober in October. Here are the results!

On the train to London I met Hattie who was lovely and let me draw her portrait. She is a doctor who is part of the fight against #breast #cancer! This is my very belated day 20 :)"

I managed to do 20. At first I was aiming to do one every day of the month, but I soon realised when I started my job that it wouldn't be possible and I got crazy busy the last weeks of October so I stopped then. Either way, I really enjoyed the exercise and I hope to do more monthly art challenges like #inktober. I'm thinking of rummaging through my art store and seeing what I haven't used for a long time and then setting myself the challenge of using that medium! But I probably won't do that until after christmas now :')

Astraea Book Cover Commission

I've been working on this for a while! A cover commission for the second book by Olivia Washington in her Jupiter series. I've included the first cover too (completed in 2010) below.

Northern Lights Book Cover

I've always wanted to do covers of already existing books. I loved the His Dark Materials series as a kid so I can't think of a better series to start with. This is going to be a portfolio piece, and I will be doing the other two books. The image is part photo manipulation, part digital painting.

Filofax cover story finalist!

I was very lucky to have been selected as one of the seven finalists of Filofax's cover story competition! Recently the winner was announced and, although I didn't win, I'm pretty chuffed I reached the finals. A big congratulations to the winner, Nicole Vertina, I look forward to seeing your design in spring!

These are the first 5 drawings for the hand made mock up book I'm putting together for the Lincoln Illustration degree show. This way people can understand the story and can see the final illustrations in the order they would be in in the book. 

I ended up having the learn how to use the pen tool in photoshop within an afternoon so forgive me if these look quite rough!
